Ingredients:
  • Skinned Black Gram (Urad Daal Dhuli)-1 Cup
  • Onion-1-Medium
  • Tomato-3-Medium
  • Ginger-2 tsp
  • Garlic-2 Cloves
  • Green Chili-1-Small
  • Cilantro-1/2 tbsp-Cleaned, Washed and Finely Chopped-For Garnishing
  • Oil-1 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds-1 tsp
  • Asafoetida (Hing)-A Pinch
  • Bay Leaves-1
  • Cloves-3-4
  • Turmeric Powder-1/2 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder-1/4 tsp
  • Garam Masala-1 tsp
  • Salt-To Taste
  • Water-3-4 Cups

Recipe:

Wash skinned black gram 3-4 times. Keep aside.



Peel onion, ginger and garlic. Wash them. Wash tomatoes and green chili. Chop onion, ginger, garlic, green chili and tomatoes finely. Keep aside.



Heat oil in a pressure cooker on medium-low flame.



Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, bay leaves and cloves. Fry them for few seconds.



Add onion, ginger, garlic and green chili. Mix well. Fry till onion becomes translucent.



Add tomatoes and mix well.



Now add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala and salt. Add 1/4 cup of water and mix well.



Fry for 4-5 minutes.



Add skinned black gram and 3 cups of water. Mix well.



Close the lid of pressure cooker. Turn the gas to high flame. Pressure cook daal till 2 whistles come. Turn off the gas. Let the cooker cool.



Skinned Black Gram Curry is ready. Garnish with cilantro. Serve hot with roti or rice. Enjoy!!!
